If you don't already know this last weekend I asked my long term girlfriend Krystal Jeffs to marry me, and she said yes!!! Not that I thought she would say no but there is always that little thought in the back of your mind that says what if. I thought I would be able to breeze right through the conversation but it was way harder to make that big step in my life. Now that I have I could not be happier and without a doubt know I made the right decision!!
On the other side of my life I am getting ready for the big race in Windsor ON, it is one of the few races in Ontario that still has substantial prize money, I remember talking to some of the first generation pros and they tell stories of being able to win $7-8000 in a summer just racing in Ontario. For example, 4 years ago I was 3rd at the Muskoka Long course and came away with $2500, not bad! 2 years ago I won the race and won $1500, not as much as 3rd a few years before but still not bad. This year I won the race again for a grand total winnings of $250! I know it is all a business and I understand that everyone likes to see maximum profits but if we want to continue to see high end racing in Ontario we need to find a way to bring the Pros back. They make the races more exciting, give the kids something to look up to and can also help give back to the other athletes by doing clinics and seminars in the days leading up to the race.
Anyways, I am really feeling good leading into the race this weekend but I know it is going to be a tough one with 2 of my younger teammates who will challenge me for the win! Bring it on guys.

Congrats and well said. There is really no point to race in Ontario anymore due to lack of prize money for the pro's. We have so many talented athletes here it seems like a waste to ship guys like you and I to the states to compete.
